Beschreibung:5-Bromo-3-chloro-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde is a potent regulator of microglia, a type of immune cell. It has been shown to be neuroprotective in the presence of radiation and activated TNF-α, by decreasing necrosis and inflammation. This compound is also capable of inhibiting the production of IL-1β and IL-6 from human monocytes, which may be due to its hydrophobic properties. 5-Bromo-3-chloro-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde has been shown to suppress the development of experimental sclerosis in rats. The mechanism for this effect is unknown, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the activation of proinflammatory genes such as p65 nuclear translocation or nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB).
