Beschreibung

Moracin C is a fatty acid that has been shown to induce autophagy. Autophagy is a process of lysosomal degradation in which the cell recycles its own cytosolic proteins and organelles. Moracin C has been found to be effective against cancer cells, and may act by inhibiting the production of protein or DNA. Moracin C has also been shown to have neuroprotective effects and may be used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Moracin C is not active against bacterial cells, but has been shown to inhibit the activity of aromatase, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of estrogen. The chemical structure of moracin C is homologous to cholesterol and other sterols found in nature.
