Beschreibung

2-Amino-4-oxo-3H,4H,7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile (CGP57148) is a compound that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase, which is involved in RNA and DNA synthesis. CGP57148 has been shown to inhibit translocation of bacteria across intestinal epithelial cells by blocking the enzyme ATP synthase. CGP57148 also inhibits the formation of disulfide bonds in proteins by binding to the active site of protein disulfide isomerase and preventing its activity. This drug has a pH optimum of 6.0 and is most active at a concentration of 20 μM. It is not stable at high pH values and decomposes below pH 4.0.
