• Beschreibung: Lotilaner is a new chemical pesticide that belongs to the family of pyrazolines. It is a prodrug that is activated by esterases in the insect gut and by phosphatases in the red blood cells. Activation leads to inhibition of chitin synthase, which is required for chitin synthesis, leading to cell death. Lotilaner has been shown to be active against molluscs and insects. The drug also has a long terminal half-life and high elimination rate, which makes it suitable for use as a control agent. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy against bacterial strains such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi.
