• Beschreibung: Murepavadin is a cyclic peptide that has been shown to have broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 50S subunit and prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Murepavadin has been shown to be effective against resistant mutants of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, and Enterobacteriaceae. The drug has also been tested in vivo in mice with urinary tract infections and showed promising results. Murepavadin may have synergistic effects when combined with other antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin or azithromycin.
