Beschreibung

p-Propoxyanisole is an organic compound with the formula CH3COCH2CH2PO. It is a colorless liquid with a strong odor, soluble in ether and chloroform. It is used as a precursor to other compounds such as hexafluorophosphoric acid. p-Propoxyanisole can be produced by reacting propylene oxide with ammonia, or by hydrolysis of nitroparaffins. The crystal structure of p-propoxyanisole was determined to be orthorhombic, with space group Pbnm and unit cell dimensions of a = 7.7 Å, b = 7.7 Å and c = 9.5 Å. There are two isomers: one where the propoxy group lies on the same side of the ring as the hydroxyl group (syn form), and one where they lie on opposite sides (anti form).
