(2-Carboxyethyl)dimethylsulfonium Bromide is a growth factor with anti-inflammatory properties. It is expressed by cells in the intestinal tract and is involved in the inflammatory response. This growth factor inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-10, TNF-α, and hepcidin. (2-Carboxyethyl)dimethylsulfonium Bromide also has been shown to inhibit phosphatase activity and glutamic acid decarboxylase activity in vitro. (2-Carboxyethyl)dimethylsulfonium Bromide is an antagonist of fatty acids, which are pro-inflammatory cytokines that are involved in the inflammatory process. It also has been shown to have a protective effect on enteritis caused by dietary factors or bacterial infection.
