This drug has been shown to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis in bladder cancer cells. 6,8-Dimethyl-3H,4H-imidazo[1,5-a][1,3,5]triazin-4-one also inhibits tumor growth in mice transplanted with human bladder cancer cells. The drug works by binding to DNA bases and causing crosslinking of DNA chains. This leads to inhibition of RNA synthesis and protein synthesis.
