Tetranor-pgdm has been shown to inhibit the activity of ion channels and ligand-gated ion channels, such as nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and voltage-gated potassium channels. Tetranor-pgdm is a potent inhibitor of the β2 subunit of the calcium channel, which is an important target for antihypertensive drugs. Tetranor-pgdm also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines in vitro and decreases blood pressure in vivo.
