Beschreibung

Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide that has been shown to have a matrix effect on analytical methods. The anhydrous sodium salt of imidacloprid was prepared as an analyte, and the proposed method was validated by comparing the results with those obtained from two other analytical methods. The chromatographic separation of imidacloprid from its metabolites was achieved by using liquid-liquid extraction followed by column chromatography. The analysis of urine samples for the presence of imidacloprid and its metabolites was performed in order to assess the potential exposure of humans to this insecticide. Imidacloprid binds to fatty acid receptors in insects, which may explain its long-term effects on their growth regulators and survival.
