• Beschreibung: Pyrazoxyfen is a potent inhibitor of mitochondrial cytochrome P450, which is the enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of fatty acids and prostaglandins. Pyrazoxyfen inhibits the activity of this enzyme by binding to its heme group. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in tissue culture and also synergizes with other antimicrobial agents such as benzobicyclon or UV light. Pyrazoxyfen inhibits bacterial growth by denaturing their DNA. This drug also binds to fatty acids, which are essential for bacterial cell membrane integrity, and disrupts cellular membrane functions. When combined with other compounds, it can be used as a herbicide for plants.
