Produktinformation
- 1,2-Benzenedicarboxamide, 3-nitro-
- 3-Nitro-1,2-benzenedicarboxamide
3-Nitrophthalamide is a transition metal complex that contains a phenoxy group. This compound has been synthesized by the reaction of nitrobenzene and α-phenylacetonitrile, which was followed by dehydration to form the final product. 3-Nitrophthalamide absorbs light at a wavelength of 500 nm, which is shifted to 527 nm after the addition of water. The shift in absorption spectrum is due to the nucleophilic substitution of hydroxide for one of the nitro groups. This reaction can be monitored with a spectrometer or gravimetry. 3-Nitrophthalamide has been shown to inhibit bacterial biosynthesis and optical activity, making it useful as an antibiotic.
