Chlorisondamine diiodide is an acetylcholine receptor antagonist that inhibits the binding of acetylcholine to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on experimental colitis in rats, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of cytokines such as TNF-α. Chlorisondamine diiodide has also been shown to have a cholinergic enhancement effect and reduces the release of histamine from nerve endings. This drug also inhibits the activation of inflammatory cells by inhibiting extracellular receptor activity and preventing the release of proinflammatory mediators.
