Cinnamylphosphonic acid (CAP) is a small molecule that can be used to create luminescent nanowires. CAP was found to be expressed in the human lung and brain, as well as in the retina of the eye. Cinnamylphosphonic acid is stable and emits light at a constant rate even after being heated or mixed with other compounds.
CAP has been shown to have photoluminescence properties that are similar to those of quantum dots, but without the need for any additional chemicals or solvents.
