Beschreibung

WAY 100635 is a highly potent and selective antagonist at 5-HT1A receptors. It has been shown to decrease the release of serotonin and dopamine in the hippocampus, as well as locomotor activity. WAY 100635 has high affinity for 5-HT2 receptors, but it has no effect on these receptors. In contrast to many other antagonists, WAY 100635 does not act by blocking neurotransmitter binding, but by preventing serotonin from being released from the nerve endings. This drug also inhibits the activity of 5-HT1A receptors in a model system composed of rat hippocampal formation and microdialysis probes with granule neurons.
