• Beschreibung: [3-(Dimethylamino)propyl]thiourea (DMAT) is a histamine receptor antagonist that can be used in the treatment of allergic disorders and inflammatory diseases. DMAT has been shown to inhibit the histamine-induced contraction of the isolated heart, as well as the release of tnf-α and prostaglandin E2 from hl-60 cells. DMAT is also an inhibitor of agonist binding sites on the H1 receptor, which may also contribute to its antihistaminic activity. It has been shown to have a protective effect against ocular injury in rats with diabetic retinopathy. DMAT is also used in the treatment of depression and other psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia. This drug binds to serotonin receptors and blocks their function by competing for binding sites on these receptors.
