4'-Methoxy-N,N-dimethyl-3'-[[[3-[[2-[(3-methylbenzoyl)amino]ethyl]amino]phenyl]amino]sulfonyl]-[1,1'-biphenyl]-3-carboxamide (BMS-986168) is a thrombin inhibitor that has been shown to reduce the production of proinflammatory cytokines in vitro. This drug has been evaluated in mice with fulminant hepatitis and cirrhosis and was found to be effective in reducing the levels of proinflammatory cytokines. In addition, BMS-986168 has been shown to inhibit replication of a virus (Hepatitis C Virus) and bind to its receptor. The drug has also been used in clinical trials as a diagnostic agent for liver disease.
