Beschreibung:Dihydroxy melphalan-d8 is a cytostatic drug that has potent anticancer effects. It can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and cervical cancer. Dihydroxy melphalan-d8 can be synthesized by reacting melphalan with d8-2,3-diaminonaphthalene in the presence of base to form the nitrogen mustard dihydroxy melphalan. The drug is then purified by chromatographic techniques such as HPLC or high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Dihydroxymelphaland8 has been shown to bind to DNA and inhibit DNA replication. This inhibition prevents cells from dividing, which leads to cell death. The terminal half-life of this drug is approximately 8 hours.
