Benzyl piperidine-3-carboxylate is a hydrophobic compound that has been used in the treatment of dyslipidemia. It binds to the proliferator activated receptor (PPAR) and activates it, leading to an increase in the uptake of glucose by cells. This leads to increased insulin sensitivity and reduced lipid levels. Benzyl piperidine-3-carboxylate has also been shown to inhibit peroxisomal beta oxidation, which may be related to its anti-obesity effects. Its chemical formula is C10H14Cl2O2S.
