Produktinformation
N-Cyanopivalamide is a synthetic product and an alkylating agent that has been used as a chemical intermediate in the production of acrylamide. This reactive compound is able to form covalent bonds with hydroxyl groups, which are common in proteins. N-Cyanopivalamide reacts with acetaldehyde, forming the reactive intermediate acetaldehyde cyanohydrin. This reactive intermediate can be further reacted with halides to form N-cyanoacryloylhalides, which are used in some herbicides and pesticides. N-Cyanopivalamide also has growth regulator activity due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase and affect the metabolism of carbohydrates.
