Beschreibung

1-Sec-butyl-4-(2-chloro-ethyl)-piperazine dihydrochloride is a polymorpic, lipophilic and water soluble compound that has been synthesized to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. The drug is an analog of histamine and inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids in mitochondria by inhibiting the mitochondrial membrane potential. 1-Sec-butyl-4-(2-chloro-ethyl)-piperazine dihydrochloride also has cytostatic effects on cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis through inhibition of protein synthesis and mitochondrial activity. The drug also inhibits squamous cell carcinoma in mice.
