Panaxyne has also been found to inhibit lipid peroxidation and inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species by inhibiting the enzyme activity of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in human leukemia cells. The anticancer effects of Panaxyne are likely due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis, cell division, and cell growth. Panaxyne is a reactive fatty acid that can be used as an active ingredient in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Hexane extracts from soybean oil were found to have a significant inhibitory effect on the COX-2 enzyme activity in human leukemia cells. These results suggest that Panaxyne may be useful for treating cancer, especially leukemia.
