Beschreibung

Guaiacol glucoside is a natural product that has been shown to have antioxidant properties. It was isolated from the bark of the Guaiacum officinale tree, and it showed antioxidative activity in a model system. Guaiacol glucoside inhibited lipid peroxidation, as well as oxidative stress-induced cell death in vitro. This compound also has been shown to inhibit β-glucosidase, an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds. This inhibition prevents the release of glucose and other products of hydrolysis into the bloodstream. Guaiacol glucoside has also been shown to have glycosidic bond cleavage activity with enzymes such as α-galactosidase and β-glucuronidase.
