The affinity of 7-(Trifluoromethyl)-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid for this receptor is approximately 100 times greater than that of other indoles. 7-(Trifluoromethyl)-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid has been shown to have an affinity for the serotonin receptor, and it has been shown to possess some degree of selectivity. This compound also blocks the binding of serotonin in rat brain synaptosomes with an IC50 value of 0.5 μM, which is higher than most other indole antagonists.
