Beschreibung

6-Hydroxygenistein is a monohydroxylated isoflavone found in pueraria lobata. It is used as an alternative to biochanin A, which has been shown to be hepatoprotective in rats and humans. 6-Hydroxygenistein has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. 6-Hydroxygenistein is an inhibitor of wst-1, a protein involved in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation. It has also demonstrated anticancer activity against human liver cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis by binding with the topoisomerase II enzyme. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies have shown that 6-hydroxygenistein binds to human liver microsomes, suggesting it may be able to cross the blood brain barrier.
