Beschreibung:N1-Benzyl-N2-(2-methylnaphthalen-1-yl)oxalamide is a chemical compound that is used as an inhibitor of the enzyme xanthine oxidase. It is able to inhibit xanthine oxidase by blocking the entrance of oxygen into the active site, preventing formation of reactive oxygen species and reducing oxidative stress in cells. Xanthine oxidase inhibition has been shown to inhibit the growth of human liver cancer cells in culture. N1-Benzyl-N2-(2-methylnaphthalen-1-yl)oxalamide also inhibits DNA replication and protein synthesis, which are vital for cell division. This compound has been shown to be effective against a variety of cancers including prostate, breast, lung, and colon cancer.
