Beschreibung

(-)-Trans-Myrtanol is a natural product that has been shown to have a cavity-fighting effect. It is produced by marine organisms and is the major component of Myrtella oil, which has been used for centuries as a nasal decongestant. (-)-Trans-Myrtanol has also been shown to have nerve-relaxing properties, making it useful in the treatment of pain, although it does not cause addiction. The compound hydrolyzes readily at basic pH and transfers readily across cell membranes. This chemical has chiral centers and can exist in two enantiomeric forms, (+)-trans-myrtanol or (-)-trans-myrtanol.
