Beschreibung

Prestegane B is a compound found in the fungus Hewittia subloblata that has been shown to inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases. Prestegane B is also an inhibitor of the glomerular filtration rate, as well as a natriuretic and protein synthesis inhibitor. This compound has been shown to be effective against cervical cancer cells in vivo models and hl-60 cells in vitro. It has also been shown to have anticancer effects on cancer cells, which may be due to its hydroxyl group that can bind to DNA and inhibit topoisomerase II. Prestegane B also inhibits polymorphonuclear leucocytes by binding to their receptors, inhibiting chemotaxis.
