Beschreibung

5'-[[(3S)-3-Amino-3-carboxypropyl]methylsulfonio]-5'-deoxy-adenosine chloride (CAS 79027-14-1) is a potent inhibitor of s-adenosylmethionine synthetase, which is involved in the methylation cycle. It has been shown to have therapeutic potential for squamous cell carcinoma and other cancers with hypermethylation. This agent is also an inhibitor of methionine synthase. 5'-[[(3S)-3-Amino-3-carboxypropyl]methylsulfonio]-5'-deoxy-adenosine chloride inhibits protein synthesis by blocking the transfer of methyl groups from S adenosylmethionine to protein substrates. Its low toxicity has been demonstrated in a mouse model system and it has not been shown to interfere with DNA replication or mitosis.
