A non-metabolizable allolactose analogue, widely used in molecular biology for overexpression of recombinant proteins from inducible systems under the control of lac promoter. IPTG binds to the LacI repressor and causes its release from the lac operator, allowing gene expression to take place. Present in vectors of pGEX, pGEM-T, pET, pRSET, pMAL class and others.

IPTG is a gratuitous beta-D-galactosidase inducer. In Escherichia coli IPTG functions by binding to the lac repressor and altering its conformation. This inactivation prevents the repressor binding to the operator of the lac operon and thus the repression of the beta-galactosidase coding gene lacZ. IPTG is a commonly used reagent in cloning procedures that require induction of beta-galactosidase activity and is used in conjunction with X-Gal or Lapis-β-D-Gal in blue-white color selection of recombinant bacterial colonies.

<p>Applications A short, amino reactive homobifunctional crosslinking reagent. Crosslinking distance 8.3 Å. Dioxane Bromonium Bromide is a quinazolone derivative with inhibitory effects on the inflammatory process that is mediated by nitric oxide. Dioxane Bromonium Bromide inhibits the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are important mediators of inflammation. This drug has been shown to be effective in treating inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. The drug binds to the hydroxy group of tyrosine residues in proteins, which leads to inhibition of protein synthesis. It also reacts with chloride ions, forming pyridinium bromide. This reaction prevents the conversion of nitrite ions into reactive nitrogen species such as nitric oxide and peroxynitrite. This reaction product also inhibits neutrophil chemotaxis and degranulation, thereby reducing inflammation.
