Applications Methyl 3-Hydroxyheptanoate is an intermediate in the synthesis of rac-3-Hydroxyheptanoic Acid (H943075). rac-3-Hydroxyheptanoic acid is used as a reagent to synthesize β-hydroxy acid derivatives. rac-3-Hydroxyheptanoic acid is also found in milk, where it resulted as a product of degradation or fatty acid synthesis.
