Yoduro de hidrógeno (HI) es un gas incoloro a temperatura ambiente, caracterizado por su olor penetrante y fuertes propiedades ácidas cuando se disuelve en agua, formando ácido hidroiodico. Es una molécula diatómica compuesta de hidrógeno y yodo, con un peso molecular de aproximadamente 127.91 g/mol. HI es altamente soluble en agua, y su solución acuosa es un ácido fuerte, capaz de donar protones (H+) fácilmente. La sustancia también es conocida por su reactividad, particularmente con bases y agentes oxidantes, lo que lleva a la formación de varios compuestos de yoduro.
