Dopamine is an important neurotransmitter that is involved in the regulation of movement, emotional responses, and hormone release. Dopamine is synthesized from tyrosine by tyrosine hydroxylase and then converted to L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine by L-aromatic amino acid decarboxylase.
