Descripción:
Tetrahidrofurano (THF) es un líquido incoloro y volátil con un olor distintivo a éter. Es un éter cíclico y sirve como un solvente importante en la química orgánica debido a su capacidad para disolver una amplia gama de compuestos polares y no polares. El THF tiene un bajo punto de ebullición y una presión de vapor relativamente alta, lo que lo hace útil en diversas aplicaciones, incluyendo como solvente para polímeros y en la producción de productos farmacéuticos. Su estructura química presenta un anillo de cinco miembros que contiene cuatro átomos de carbono y un átomo de oxígeno, lo que contribuye a su reactividad y capacidad para participar en varias reacciones químicas, como la polimerización. El THF es higroscópico, lo que significa que puede absorber humedad del aire, lo que puede afectar sus propiedades y reactividad.
