1,2-Etano-diamina, N,N'-dimetil-, también conocido como N,N'-dimetil-etilenodiamina, es un compuesto orgánico caracterizado por sus grupos funcionales de amina. Presenta dos grupos de amina (-NH2) unidos a una estructura de etileno de dos carbonos, con dos grupos metilo sustituyendo los átomos de hidrógeno de los grupos de amina. Este compuesto es típicamente un líquido incoloro a amarillo pálido con un fuerte olor a amina. N,N'-Dimethylethanediamine is a chemical compound that is used as a sample preparation agent and has been shown to be effective in the crystallography of potassium hexafluorophosphate. It is also used as a solid catalyst in hydrogenation reactions. The FTIR spectroscopy of N,N'-dimethylethanediamine shows signals at 1590 cm-1 for the C=O stretching vibration, which indicates that it contains an intramolecular hydrogen bond. This intramolecular hydrogen bond may be due to the presence of a chelate ring on one of its nitrogen atoms. N,N'-Dimethylethanediamine can also form a hydrogen bond with chloride ions or nitrogen atoms in other molecules.
