Ácido behénico, también conocido como ácido docosanoico, es un ácido graso saturado de cadena larga con la fórmula química C22H44O2. Se caracteriza por una estructura de cadena recta que consta de 22 átomos de carbono y un grupo funcional ácido carboxílico en un extremo. Ácido behénico es típicamente un sólido blanco y ceroso a temperatura ambiente y tiene un punto de fusión que le permite permanecer sólido en diversas condiciones ambientales. Es insoluble en agua pero soluble en disolventes orgánicos como el etanol y el éter. Este ácido graso se deriva comúnmente de fuentes naturales, incluidos varios aceites vegetales, particularmente de las semillas del árbol de Moringa y otras plantas. CAS:<p>Behenic acid is a fatty acid that has been used as a fluorescence probe for the detection of water vapor. It has shown to have antibacterial efficacy against bacteria including Acinetobacter baumannii, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Behenic acid is also known to inhibit the synthesis of fatty acids in rat liver microsomes and to have biological properties such as the ability to induce hepatic steatosis. This fatty acid is found in some lichens and can be purified from them using an analytical method involving constant-pressure liquid chromatography.
