Ethynyl 2-deoxy-5-O-DMT-ribosyl 3-CE phosphoramidite is a monophosphate nucleoside analog. The ethynyl group is attached to the 2'-hydroxyl group of the ribose sugar. This nucleotide analogue inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis by inhibiting DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase. Ethynyl 2-deoxy-5-O-DMT-ribosyl 3-CE phosphoramidite has antiviral activity against Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and type 2 (HSV2) in vitro, as well as cytotoxic activity against human leukemia cells in vitro.
