Óxido de molibdeno (MoO3) es un compuesto químico caracterizado por su alto punto de fusión y estabilidad en condiciones ambientales. Típicamente aparece como un polvo amarillo a verdoso y es conocido por sus propiedades semiconductoras, lo que lo hace útil en diversas aplicaciones electrónicas. MoO3 es un precursor importante en la producción de metal de molibdeno y otros compuestos de molibdeno. Exhibe una estructura en capas, que contribuye a sus propiedades físicas y químicas únicas, incluida la actividad catalítica, particularmente en reacciones de oxidación. El compuesto es insoluble en agua, pero puede disolverse en ácidos fuertes, formando iones molibdato.
