Descripción:
Dióxido de circonio, también conocido como zirconia, es un óxido cristalino blanco de zirconio con la fórmula química ZrO2. Se caracteriza por su alto punto de fusión, excelente estabilidad térmica y baja conductividad térmica, lo que lo hace adecuado para aplicaciones a altas temperaturas. Dióxido de circonio exhibe propiedades mecánicas notables, incluyendo alta resistencia y tenacidad, que contribuyen a su uso en cerámicas y aplicaciones dentales. También es químicamente inerte, resistente a la corrosión y no reacciona con la mayoría de los ácidos y bases, lo que mejora su utilidad en varios procesos industriales. La zirconia puede existir en diferentes formas cristalinas, incluyendo fases monoclínicas, tetragonales y cúbicas, siendo las formas tetragonales y cúbicas estabilizadas por la adición de dopantes como la itria.
