Fenoterol

Fenoterol es un agonista selectivo de los receptores adrenérgicos beta-2 que se utiliza principalmente como broncodilatador en el tratamiento del asma y la enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (EPOC). Funciona estimulando los receptores adrenérgicos beta-2 en el músculo liso de las vías respiratorias, lo que lleva a la relajación y dilatación de los pasajes bronquiales, mejorando así el flujo de aire. Fenoterol se administra típicamente por inhalación, permitiendo una entrega dirigida a los pulmones con efectos secundarios sistémicos reducidos. La sustancia se caracteriza por su inicio de acción relativamente rápido y una duración que puede variar según la formulación. Además de sus efectos broncodilatadores, Fenoterol también puede exhibir algunas propiedades antiinflamatorias. Fenoterol is a bronchodilator that is used to treat asthma. It has been shown to inhibit the contractility of the papillary muscle and cause relaxation of the airways by acting on beta-adrenergic receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle. Fenoterol is an experimental drug that may have a role in treating congestive heart failure. In a model system using dextran sulfate, fenoterol was found to inhibit polymerase chain reaction (PCR) activity, which is important for DNA replication and repair. The cardiac effects of fenoterol are attributed to its ability to inhibit PCRs and thereby prevent DNA replication. The efficacy of this drug has been demonstrated in an animal study using untreated rats as a control group.
