    Hydrazinium dinitrate is a chemical compound that is used in the manufacture of explosives. It is activated by heat or shock, which causes a release of nitrogen gas and water to form an explosive mixture. The energy required for this activation can be provided by oxidation, such as with oxalyl chloride. It is also used in the production of other chemicals, such as anacidity and amines, including aluminium hydroxide. Hydrazinium dinitrate has been shown to cause Alzheimer's disease-like effects in mice when they are injected with it. This may be due to its ability to create reactive oxygen species (ROS) that cause cross-linking between proteins and DNA molecules.
