Lepirudina

Descripción:
Lepirudina es un anticoagulante sintético derivado de la saliva de la sanguijuela medicinal, Hirudo medicinalis. Funciona como un inhibidor directo de la trombina, lo que significa que se une a la trombina y evita que convierta el fibrinógeno en fibrina, inhibiendo así la formación de coágulos sanguíneos. Lepirudina se utiliza principalmente en entornos clínicos para el tratamiento de pacientes con trombocitopenia inducida por heparina (HIT), una condición en la que la terapia con heparina conduce a una disminución en el recuento de plaquetas y un aumento del riesgo de trombosis. La sustancia se caracteriza por su alta especificidad por la trombina, lo que la hace efectiva en el manejo de trastornos trombóticos. Lepirudina se administra por inyección intravenosa, y su farmacocinética incluye una vida media relativamente corta, lo que requiere un monitoreo cuidadoso de los niveles de anticoagulación en los pacientes.     Lepirudin acetate salt is a recombinant heparin that inhibits the activity of thrombin, an enzyme that converts fibrinogen to fibrin. Lepirudin acetate salt binds to thrombin and prevents it from binding to its target sites on the fibrinogen molecule. It is used as an anticoagulant in patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. Lepirudin acetate salt has been shown to be effective against hirudin and lepirudin, which are inhibitors of heparins.
