USP7-IN-1 is a recombinant protein with an optical system that changes color in response to these gases. It binds to the transporter gene for adipose tissue and senses light signals from this region. This sensor has been shown to be more sensitive than other sensors in detecting nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide.
