Ácido 2-mercaptobenzoico, también conocido como ácido o-mercaptobenzoico, es un tiol aromático y un ácido carboxílico caracterizado por la presencia de un grupo tiol (-SH) y un grupo ácido carboxílico (-COOH) unidos a un anillo bencénico. Su fórmula molecular es C7H6O2S, y presenta un anillo bencénico con el grupo tiol posicionado orto al grupo ácido carboxílico. Este compuesto es típicamente un sólido cristalino blanco a amarillo claro con un olor característico. Es soluble en disolventes polares como agua y alcoholes, pero menos soluble en disolventes no polares.
