WHI-P180 hydrochloride is a selective inhibitor of the TRPV1 ion channel. It is a potent inhibitor of TRPV1 channels and has been shown to inhibit the activation of these channels by capsaicin, low pH, and heat. WHI-P180 hydrochloride is in a class of compounds called "capsaicin analogs" because it mimics the structure of capsaicin, which activates TRPV1 channels. WHI-P180 hydrochloride has been shown to be an effective treatment for neuropathic pain that does not respond to other treatments.
