CAS:Producto controlado3-Oxo-5β-cholanoic acid is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits the expression of target genes by binding to hydroxyl groups in the 3' untranslated region. The optimum pH for its activity is 7.2, but can be shifted to 5.0 or 8.0 depending on the assay conditions. It has been shown to inhibit the constitutive androstane receptor and 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, which are enzymes involved in cholesterol biosynthesis. The rat liver microsomes and human liver cells are also inhibited by 3-oxo-5β-cholanoic acid, although this may not be due to its inhibition of these enzymes. This drug has shown no effect on wild-type mice, but has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in mice with a mutated gene for 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.
