KDM5-IN-1 is a potent inhibitor of the cellular phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) which is responsible for the degradation of intracellular cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). KDM5-IN-1 has been shown to be clinically useful in the treatment of cancer, such as prostate cancer. This drug inhibits the PDE5 enzyme by binding to its catalytic site and blocking cGMP hydrolysis. Blocking PDE5 leads to a build up of cGMP in cells, which signals them to stop growing.
