CAS:Producto controladoOctreotate is a radiopharmaceutical that is synthesized by reacting DOTA-Tyr3 with octreotide acetate. Octreotate, also known as dotatate, is used in nuclear medicine to treat neuroendocrine tumours. This drug has a high yield and can be reliably prepared using cassettes and computerised equipment to create germanium-68 labelled octreotate. The radionuclide emits positrons and gamma rays, which are used for imaging neuroendocrine tumours in the brain or other organs. Octreotate is a synthetic analogue of the natural hormone octreotide, which binds to receptors on the cell surface and prevents the release of hormones from cells. This may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by inhibiting rRNA synthesis.
