3-Nitrophenylaceticacid (3NPAA) is a nitro compound that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It can be synthesized by reacting phenylacetic acid with nitric acid, which is then oxidized to 3-nitrophenol with potassium permanganate. The product is then reacted with acetic anhydride to produce 3-nitrophenylacetic acid.
