LAPAQ has been shown to have a chemical stability that is 8 times higher than that of other drugs, which may be due to its ester linkages. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties, which are due to its ability to inhibit the production of high-sensitivity c-reactive protein (hsCRP). LAPAQ inhibits the activity of 3 enzymes involved in cholesterol synthesis, including 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG CoA reductase), acetyl coenzyme A cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT), and lysophospholipid acyltransferase.
